Quadproj 2.0 is there!

I could not sleep knowing that one of my thesis chapters was unfinished: the quadproj library 1.x can only help you projecting a point onto a non-cylindrical central quadrics. This seemed oddly too specific, and much reduced the usefulness of the tool to me.

I am therefore thrilled to announce the brand new version of quadproj 2.x that can deal with any (nonlinear [1]) quadric.

This includes strange animals such as the elliptic cones

Elliptic cone

Or other parabolic quadrics, such as the elliptic paraboloid

HYperbolic paraboloid

And the hyperbolic paraboloid (with the projection in red of the initial point in black)

Hyperbolic paraboloid

Finally any cylindrical quadric is also covered, such as the ellipsoid cylinder

Ellipsoid cylinder

Hopefully, this would help anyone on the verge of projecting into hypersurfaces… Stay—and project—safe! Next step: accommodating this paper to theoretically back up the projection in the parabolic, elliptic, and cylindrical case.
